DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say a vehicle fire shut down traffic for several hours on the bridge that connects Detroit with the Canadian city of Windsor.

Ambassador Bridge Co. spokesman Mickey Blashfield tells reporters the fire that started late Tuesday morning involved a Canada-bound pickup truck hauling a trailer. The cause of the blaze isn’t known.

Limited traffic resumed about 3 p.m. after being halted in both directions for several hours.

A work crew continues to repair the road surface at the site of the fire.

There are no immediate reports of injuries.

Smoke could be seen for miles, and flames were shooting off the top of the U.S. side of the bridge that spans the Detroit River.
