MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Barton River in Coventry in northern Vermont.

On Tuesday morning, the river was nearing flood stage of 8 feet and the river is expected to reach 9 feet by Tuesday evening.

Once the river hits flood stage, Maple Street and Coventry Station will flood. There will also be extensive field and lowland flooding. The flooding is expected to last until Wednesday afternoon.

The flooding comes as temperatures rise, increasing snowmelt across Vermont.
