The Iowa State Patrol says Schmitt was traveling east pulling a tandem trailer, when his SUV left the road, overturned and landed on its top, pinning Schmitt inside. Schmitt, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Around 8:20 p.m. Friday, 62-year-old Steven Solem, of Thornton, Colorado, died in a crash near Waukon.
