88-year-old woman killed in pedestrian accident

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - An 88-year-old Metairie woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle near busy Veterans Boulevard in Metairie (MET’-ah-ree).

Authorities said Margaret Pilie (pih-LIE) died Friday afternoon at a hospital after the Friday accident.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to the area after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck just before noon.

WDSU-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1D013Qd ) the driver of the vehicle told investigators the woman walked into the roadway. The driver has not been charged.
