SLIDELL, La. (AP) - A 19-year-old from Mississippi was killed when he got out of a car and walked onto northbound lanes of Interstate 59 in St. Tammany Parish.

State police say Andrew C. Flores of Picayune was struck by a pickup truck around 6:30 Saturday morning.

Troopers say evidence and witness statements indicate Flores was being driven to his home when, for unknown reasons, he became belligerent in the rear seat of the car he was riding in. He began interfering with the driver, who pulled over.

Flores got out of the car and was struck.

Toxicology tests on Flores were pending. State police say the driver of the pickup submitted to a breath alcohol test indicating no traces of alcohol.
