BALTIMORE (AP) - Police in Baltimore say an off-duty Maryland Capitol Police officer’s vehicle was stolen with his special needs child inside, and that while both the child and the vehicle have been found they’re looking for a suspect.

Police say the officer’s personal vehicle was taken Saturday as he was unloading items from it in the 1500 block of Homestead Street. Police say an unknown suspect got into the vehicle and fled with the child inside. Police say the officer fired at least one shot toward the vehicle.

Police say the child was found unharmed after the suspect apparently stopped the vehicle and dropped the child off.

Police later located the vehicle unattended in the 900 block of E. 30 street, about half a mile from where it was taken.
