NEWARK, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Police says an 18-year-old has been arrested following a carjacking and police chase.

State Police say that a woman was sitting in her car Friday in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale Club in Newark when she was approached by a teen who asked to use her cell phone. The woman agreed but the teen did not return the phone after making a call.

State Police say that when the victim grabbed the suspect he implied that he was armed, took her keys and drove away in her car. State Police say they were called, located the vehicle and gave chase for about 25 minutes before the vehicle became involved in a crash in Elkton, Md.

State Police identified the suspect as Joshua D. McGriff of Wilmington.
