LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say an innocent bystander was shot and killed as she arrived for work in Las Vegas.

Investigators say 24-year-old Cassandra Lee Cassidy of Las Vegas had just arrived for work late Friday when she was approached outside by two females who asked for help.

A car with multiple people then drove up and shots were fired from it, striking Cassidy. The car then sped away.

She was rushed to a hospital, where she died.

Detectives say they believe Cassidy wasn’t the intended target, and no suspects were immediately identified.

Solutions Recovery Inc., which provides alcohol and drug treatment at houses around Las Vegas, issued a statement Saturday saying Cassidy was a “caring and compassionate” employee who was “senselessly killed on her way to work.”

Solutions Recovery says it’s “devastated” by her death and working closely with police “to make sense of this horrible crime.”
