SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Residents are protesting against a pipeline that could carry fuel from the Gulf Coast to the southeast.

WTOC-TV (https://bit.ly/1HEOzEr ) reports that protesters rallied Saturday in Forsyth Park against the proposed Palmetto Pipeline.

Energy company Kinder Morgan plans to build the pipeline to transport gasoline, ethanol and diesel fuel. The pipeline would run from Belton, South Carolina, through parts of southeastern Georgia, and end in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has scheduled a public hearing on the plan Tuesday at the Richmond Hill City Center.
