ROCKLAND, Mass. (AP) - School officials say a Rockland High School senior has died on a school trip to Greece.

Rockland Schools Superintendent John Retchless said the teen collapsed Friday walking on an Athens street. Retchless said school staff in the group tried to revive the 18-year-old but he died at a hospital.

The superintendent said about 60 students and staff arrived Thursday and had planned to return April 24. He said the school is working with its tour group to get the students home as possible.

Retchless said “it’s very difficult for everybody,” and the school is providing resources to get students through it.

The boy is the third Rockland senior to die this school year. One boy was killed in a car accident New Year’s Day, and another died suddenly in October.
