MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) - Marysville police are investigating the death of a toddler who was struck by a vehicle that was backing out of a driveway.

Commander Robb Lamoureux says it appears to be a tragic accident but specialists are on the scene to investigate.

Officials were called to a home after a 2-year-old ran out of her residence and went behind a vehicle that was backing out. The toddler’s father was the driver.

Officers started CPR on the child, who was in critical condition. Medics took over those efforts and drove her to the Arlington Airport to take the child to the hospital, but she died on the way.
