SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man has been ordered to stand trial on a criminal homicide charge in the beating death of his roommate last year.
Fifty-four-year-old Thomas Petrousky is charged in Schuylkill County in the April 2014 death of 50-year-old David Halaburda near Frackville.
The (Pottsville) Republican-Herald (https://bit.ly/1CZdX11 ) reports that a district judge ruled Friday that prosecutors had presented enough evidence to support the charges.
A forensic specialist said investigators believe that a piece of plywood was used to batter the victim.
An officer said the defendant was agitated and had blood on his shirt, and a neighbor testified that his fists were swollen and “nicked-up.”
Under cross-examination from Chief Public Defender Michael Stine, a township police chief said Halaburda was found to have bath salts in his system.
