TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say one person was wounded by gunfire during the annual “Orange Crush” party on Tybee Island.

The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1IrjiCY) that multiple shots were heard shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday as thousands of people partied on the beach. Authorities say the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his arm.

Tybee Island Police Chief Bob Bryson said the victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.

The Savannah newspaper reports that the unofficial event is organized using social media.

Some Tybee Island residents have complained about the annual event, saying that partygoers can get out of hand and also leave behind trash on the beach.
