JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Jackson police force is welcoming new officers.

Twelve new officers stepped up for duty Friday, when the department graduated its 54th recruiting class.

WAPT TV reports (https://bit.ly/1EYcKwK ) that the new officers start work Monday.

Chief Lee Vance said the graduating class was small, but he didn’t mind, stressing that the department is looking for quality over quantity.
