Isle of Wight authorities investigate Hampton woman’s death

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a Hampton woman whose body was found in Isle of Wight County.

The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Jean Marie Smith.

The sheriff’s office tells media outlets that hunters found Smith’s body in a rural area of the county on Friday morning. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
