THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) - A woman who was molested by an anesthesiologist while under sedation has been awarded $950,000 in compensatory and punitive damages in her case against a hospital in The Dalles.

The Dalles Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1OrXOrv ) a jury on Friday awarded the damages after ruling the Mid-Columbia Medical Center was negligent. The woman, a former hospital employee, is one of a dozen women who have sued the hospital.

The women all said they told hospital officials they were abused, but no action was taken. Most of their cases have already been settled or resolved at trial.

In 2012, Dr. Fredrick Field was sentenced to 23 years in prison on abuse and rape convictions. The women were under sedation when abused.

The hospital said in a statement it’s disappointed in the verdict.
