HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a thief who robbed a cellphone store on Long Island was arrested thanks to the tracking device on one of the phones he stole.
Nassau County police say 32-year-old Christopher Lide broke the window of a phone store in Hicksville at 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police say Lide grabbed cash and several phones and iPads before fleeing.
According to police, detectives located Lide 12 hours later through a tracking device on one of the phones.
Police stopped the suspect as he was driving on the Southern State Parkway.
Lide was arrested on a charge of third-degree burglary. He was awaiting arraignment Sunday.
It wasn’t clear if Lide had a lawyer.
