WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) - Frederick County’s sheriff has identified a deputy who fatally shot a man while responding to a domestic situation.
The Winchester Star (https://bit.ly/1D2puOg ) says Sheriff Robert T. Williamson released Deputy Brian Edward Thomas’ name in response to a Virginia Freedom of Information Act request from the newspaper.
Capt. Donnie Lang tells the newspaper that Thomas is on paid administrative leave. He says Thomas has been with the sheriff’s office since July 2010.
Virginia State Police have said 38-year-old Christopher A. Prevatt died at the scene after being shot on April 3 at a residence in the Regency Lakes subdivision.
State police spokesman F.L. Tyler says the shooting remains under investigation.
