BARNWELL, S.C. (AP) - An Oklahoma company that makes tissue products is investing $110 million in a new plant in South Carolina creating more than 130 jobs.

Orchids Paper Products Company announced on Monday that its new plant in Barnwell will increase total company production by a third.

Orchids, which was established in 1998, makes tissue products at its plant in Pryor, Oklahoma. It also makes them in Mexicali, Mexico, through a strategic alliance with another company.

When fully operational by the beginning of 2017, the Barnwell plant is expected to produce approximately 40,000 tons of tissue a year.

The company produces bulk tissue paper from both recycled and new fibers and makes tissue paper for private label brands.
