WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) - Authorities say flash flooding has led to road closures in southwestern Virginia.

Wythe County spokesman Jeremy T.K. Farley said in a statement early Monday that 15 roads in the county have varying degrees of flooding, and three have been totally closed by emergency officials.

Authorities reported parts of one road had washed away and there was a 40-foot sinkhole in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for a swath of southwestern Virginia until 8 a.m. Monday and says some areas could see up to four inches of rain.

Later Monday, strong storms with high wind gusts and hail are possible.
