NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The mother of a former New Haven youth baseball star says her son was killed in a drive-by shooting.

Nicole Scott tells WTNH-TV that 20-year-old Jericho Scott was killed Sunday.

Police say they responded just after midnight Sunday and found Scott and a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in a parked car on Exchange Street. Both were rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The 20-year-old man sustained injuries to his shoulder, hand and wrist. He is listed in stable condition.

Scott was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 16-year-old Scott once made headlines as a 9-year-old pitcher who threw so hard he was asked to leave his league.

Scott says her son was a well-liked teen who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
