FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a handgun reported stolen from the Lansing Police Department has been found in a field on Flint’s north side.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1cP3399 ) an officer responded last week after a call about the weapon and retrieved the gun.

Police say a check of the Law Enforcement Information Network determined that the rusted, .45-caliber gun was reported stolen from Lansing police.

There’s no immediate word on how the gun ended up in Flint.
