CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Heavy rain is on its way to New Hampshire.

The rain was expected to start late Monday morning. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for parts or all of Belknap, Rockingham, Merrimack, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, Strafford and Sullivan counties. The watch is in effect from Monday night through Wednesday morning.

A total of 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain was forecast, with the heaviest rain expected Monday night into early Tuesday.

Highs Monday were expected to reach the 40s.
