NORVELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities are seeking help identifying the body of a man found in 1986 in a field in Jackson County.

The sheriff’s department says in attempting to revive the more than 28-year-old case that authorities never determined the name of the man, who was described as a white, 23 to 35 years old with medium-length hair. He was 5 foot 8 inches to 6 feet tall and weighed 150 to 170 pounds.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports (https://bit.ly/1P4v3mO ) the Norvell Township Police Department began an investigation Aug. 25, 1986 after they were called to the rural and remote area. It’s estimated the body was at the Norvell Township location for six months to a year.

Sheriff’s investigators took over the case when the township police department disbanded in 2008.
