NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark Police have arrested a man they say sexually assaulted a University of Delaware student.

Officers were called to the woman’s home about 6 a.m. Saturday. Police say she told officers that she had met a man the night before at a restaurant.

Authorities say the woman told officers that she, the man, and other friends went to her home after the restaurant closed.

Police say the man sexually assaulted the woman in a bedroom.

Twenty-one-year-old Paul Defeo of Butler, New Jersey, was arrested on Sunday and charged with rape and strangulation. He is being held on $250,000 cash bail.
