PASADENA, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County officials say a man was struck by a minivan and killed while trying to cross a road in Pasadena.

The Capital reports (https://bit.ly/1F6eCUr) that fire department spokesman Capt. Russ Davies says paramedics responded to a call in the 2800 block of Mountain Road around 11:30 p.m. Sunday and found the man dead.

Police say the man, whom they identified as 47-year-old John Francis Thomas of Edgewater, was dropped off on the north side of Mountain Road and was wearing all black clothing as he crossed outside a crosswalk.

The minivan’s driver, 83-year-old Rodger Louis Smith of Pasadena, notified authorities and police say there’s no evidence to suggest the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs or speeding.

The investigation is ongoing.
