SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) - Sheridan County banker Mark Kinner has been appointed to serve in the Wyoming House of Representatives, following the late Rep. John Patton, who died earlier this month.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1zE6N1R ) that the Sheridan County Commission on Monday appointed Kinner, a Republican, to continue serving the two-year term in House District 29 that Patton was elected to in November.

Kinner says he’s humbled to be taking Patton’s place in the Legislature. Kinner says he appreciates the support of Sheridan County commissioners and others.

Patton had served four stints in the Wyoming Legislature since the 1960s. He was chairman of the House Education Committee.

Kinner says he shares Patton’s interest in education. Kinner served for six years as a trustee for Sheridan College about a decade ago.
