MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A South Burlington, Vermont, police lieutenant who pleaded guilty this month to driving while intoxicated faces a four-week unpaid suspension from work and other penalties.
South Burlington Police Chief Trevor Whipple says 47-year-old Lt. Jeffrey Martel of Colchester also will see a 7-percent pay cut after he returns until he gets his license restored due to his ineligibility to drive during that period.
Martel, of Colchester, was hit with $652 in fines and surcharges, as well as a 90-day license suspension, when he pleaded guilty to driving drunk in an incident March 22.
