NEW YORK (AP) - The former mayor of a suburban New York village has been convicted in a bribery scheme.

A federal judge announced the guilty verdict against Noramie Jasmin on Monday following a non-jury trial.

Prosecutors had accused Jasmin of accepting bribes from an undercover FBI agent while she was mayor of Spring Valley, about 35 miles north of New York City. The undercover was pretending to be the developer of a community center.

There was no immediate response on Monday to a request for comment from Jasmin’s attorney.

Sentencing was set for Aug. 7.
