WACO, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a Waco police officer shot a robbery suspect in the arm after he displayed a gun.

The Waco Tribune-Herald (https://bit.ly/1bd3U22 ) reports 41-year-old Michael Chivers was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. He is charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.

Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton says Chivers stole an unspecified amount of cash from a business on Saturday. Responding officers chased Chivers, and an officer shot at him after Chivers reached into his waistband and pulled out a gun.

Swanton says Chivers tried to run away from officers again but eventually was arrested.
