SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police have partially reopened a South Portland road to traffic after it was flooded due to a water main break.

The break occurred Monday on Maine Mall Road near the entrance to Best Buy. The road was closed to traffic around 7 a.m. from Gorham to Philbrook roads near the Maine Mall.

The Portland Press Herald reports that police had opened the northbound lane to traffic by 9:45 a.m. Some traffic was moving in the southbound lane.

South Portland Police Lt. Todd Bernard tells the newspaper that officials don’t know what caused the water line to burst.
