LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say a car has struck a mother and her 6-year-old daughter in a crosswalk, seriously injuring the girl.
Officer Mike Lopez says a car apparently ran a red light shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday near Winnetka Elementary School in the San Fernando Valley, and that caused a chain reaction involving two other cars.
Lopez says the first car then ran into the sidewalk and hit the mother and daughter.
The girl was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
Lopez says the mother and three drivers are all being treated for minor injuries.
