WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - The death of a resident at an assisted living home in Winston-Salem earlier this year has been ruled a homicide.

Multiple media outlets reported that the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office said that 93-year-old Opal Galloway was beaten Feb. 7. Galloway was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where she died two days later.

Winston-Salem police say Galloway was beaten by a 74-year-old man who had recently moved into the home. The man was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
