DENVER (AP) - Denver police say 196 people were either arrested or cited for violating marijuana laws during the three-day 4/20 pot celebration.
The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/C40idV ) the arrests and citations were made and issued between Saturday and the pot enthusiasts’ holiday on Monday.
Denver’s observance of the holiday has spread into a multiday festival, drawing thousands of people for concerts and rallies. Most of the citations were issued for public consumption, which remains illegal under the state’s recreational pot law.
Several thousand activists unhappy about the public ban gathered for a mass smoke-out at 4:20 p.m. on Monday across from the state Capitol. Police mostly looked on.
