PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration says investigators are looking into reports that a laser was pointed at an airplane near a suburban Portland airport.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/6fCvh6 ) that FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the plane was headed north Sunday night near the Hillsboro Airport and was at about 2,000 feet in elevation when it was illuminated by a green laser.

Kenitzer says no one was hurt. He couldn’t provide any further details about the investigation, but said they are typically led by local police and the FBI.

Federal authorities say lasers directed at aircraft can disorient and temporarily blind pilots.
