FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) - Officials at Fort Drum are advising residents living near the northern end of the base to expect higher-than-normal noise levels coming from a training range this week.

Military officials at the Army post in northern New York say Range 48 is being used for training Tuesday through Thursday by the Air Force’s 104th Fighter Squadron from Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River, Maryland, and the Burlington, Vermont-based 134th Fighter Squadron.

People living in the vicinity of the Jefferson County town of Antwerp and the town of Fowler in neighboring St. Lawrence County can expect noise levels to increase while the training is conducted during daytime hours.

Earlier this month, an Air Force fighter wing based in North Carolina conducted training at Range 48.

Fort Drum is home to the 10th Mountain Division.
