CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A former victim advocate for the Casper Police Department who sexually assaulted a woman as she recovered from surgery at an assisted living center has been sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/03432J ) 47-year-old James Holscher was sentenced Tuesday. He pleaded guilty in January to second-degree sexual assault and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Prosecutors say Holscher assaulted the woman last June as she was recovering after having both her hips replaced. Investigators say she told them she couldn’t stop Holscher because of her medical condition.

The woman told authorities she and Holscher had a consensual sexual relationship but he touched her inappropriately after she told him several times to stop.

Holscher resigned from the department in July.
