ORLEANS, N.Y. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says tugboats will be used to free a freighter that has run aground under the Thousands Islands Bridge spanning the St. Lawrence River.

The Coast Guard says it received a report early Monday that the 621-foot bulk carrier Juno had run aground off Wellesley Island in the Jefferson County town of Orleans after experiencing steering problems.

The freighter took on water in one of its forward ballast tanks, causing it to list slightly on its left side.

There are no injuries reported and no reported pollution. The bridge wasn’t damaged.

WWNY-TV in Watertown reports tug boats from Montreal have been dispatched to free the vessel.

The Bahamian-flagged vessel is carrying a load of sugar to Toronto.

The grounding has idled three other vessels waiting for the St. Lawrence Seaway to reopen.
