HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - A Rockingham County grand jury has charged a Grottoes woman with trying to hire someone to kill six people.
Assistant commonwealth’s attorney Alycia Eldridge tells The Daily News-Record (https://bit.ly/1yNET8R ) that 34-year-old Heather Bergen was indicted on Monday on six counts of solicitation to commit murder and four counts of attempting to commit capital murder/murder for hire. All of the charges are felonies.
Bergen is accused of trying to hire an undercover officer last year to kill her then-husband, his mother and four other people. Police have said Bergen gave the officer detailed information about the potential victims, including their addresses and vehicle descriptions.
She remains in custody.
