MASTIC, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say they have arrested a homeless man responsible for robbing four banks in the last 11 days.
Police say 55 year-old William Mendolia was arrested Tuesday on 3rd degree robbery charges. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer. He’s to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
The bank robberies occurred between April 9 and April 19 in Center Moriches, Mastic and Shirley. Police say the suspect would demand cash after passing a note to the bank tellers.
