PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A 20-year-old northern New Jersey man charged in a drive-by shooting that killed a high school basketball player and wounded three others will make his first court appearance this week.

The Passaic County prosecutor’s office says Gregory Oliver will appear in court Thursday afternoon in Paterson.

Oliver is charged with murder, attempted murder and weapons possession in connection with the shooting of 15-year-old Armoni Sexton. The teen was a top scorer and rebounder at the Paterson Charter School for Science for Science and Technology.

It’s not clear if Sexton was the target of the shooting, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say the victims were standing near a liquor store when a burst of gunfire came from a vehicle that quickly fled the scene.
