Man shot in mouth during attempted robbery on LI

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (AP) - A man walking in a Long Island neighborhood was shot in the mouth when two men on bicycles tried to rob him.

Nassau County police say the 29-year-old victim was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

Police say he was approached by the two men on Long Beach Road in Roosevelt Monday night. The suspects tried to rob him and a struggle ensued. Police say one of the suspects produced a gun and shot the victim.

The suspects fled and remain at large.
