ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Police in north Alabama say two students appear to have minor injuries after they were struck by a car in a crosswalk in front of Athens High School.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson says the students got hit Tuesday morning as they were crossing U.S. Highway 31. He says both were inside the crosswalk and had the signal to cross.
WHNT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Dzb3QU ) the driver of the car, Jose Antonio Perez, told police the sun was in his eyes and he couldn’t see the crossing students. Police cited him for driving without a license.
Both students were taken by ambulance to Athens Limestone Hospital, though police later said their injuries appeared to be minor.
