CLEVELAND, Ga. (AP) - Police have dropped the charges against a grieving father who tried to set up safety barriers along a Georgia bridge where his 16-year-old daughter was killed last month.

WAGA-TV (https://bit.ly/1yMzsXV ) reports White County deputies dropped charges against Shannon Hamilton on Monday. Hamilton’s daughter, Cecily Mcree Hamilton, and her boyfriend, 18-year-old Taylor Swing, died in a March 15 crash. Police say the car left the road, went off a bank and plunged into a creek.

Saying he was frustrated guardrails had not been added to the spot since the crash, Hamilton began work on his own to create a barrier. He was arrested and charged with interfering with government property.

The county has since put up guardrails.
