HULL, Iowa (AP) - Two Iowans were injured after their van collided with the rear of a manure spreader just north of Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 85-year-old Alvin Sohl, of Rock Rapids, was westbound Monday night on 290th Street when he approached a tractor from behind. The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1K2sn6o ) Sohl was unable to stop before striking a manure spreader being pulled by the tractor.

Sohl and his passenger, 82-year-old Arlene Sohl, were hurt in the crash. They were transported to Sioux Center Hospital and later transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota., where their conditions weren’t immediately available.

The driver of the tractor, 22-year-old Steven Broersma of Sunnyside, Washington, was uninjured in the collision.
