SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 74-year-old man has been arrested after police say he struck two young girls and fled the scene.

Sioux City television station KCAU reports (https://bit.ly/1aPFScU ) Thomas Scheitler, of Sioux City, was arrested Tuesday and charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Police say Scheitler was driving along West Third Street Saturday in Sioux City when he hit 11-year-old Lillianna Brown and 10-year-old Zeqouia Godfrey. He reportedly left the scene and was located later that day.

The girls were taken to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries. Updates on their conditions weren’t immediately available Tuesday.

An attorney for Scheitler couldn’t be located. Online court records don’t yet list his case.
