ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - A 22-year-old St. Joseph woman has pleaded guilty in the starvation death of her 7-month-old son.
The St. Joseph News-Press (https://bit.ly/1J3IsLs ) reports Macayla Armstrong admitted Monday that she didn’t take her son for medical treatment because she feared state social service workers would remove the infant from her care. She was charged with failing to provide reasonable and necessary care for her son.
Authorities discovered the baby was starved to death in December. An autopsy showed the child died of malnutrition.
A circuit judge set her sentencing for late May and delayed accepting her plea.
