RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - In headlines and some portions of a story April 20 about the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, The Associated Press reported erroneously to whom the agency’s law enforcement bureau will report. The bureau will report to the ABC’s chief operating officer, not its chief executive officer.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Va. ABC’s COO takes law enforcement reins
COO of Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control takes reins of enforcement bureau
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The chief operating officer at the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is now directing the agency’s law enforcement bureau.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1JnkVSv) reports that Travis G. Hill will oversee a division that has been roiled by two embarrassing encounters with University of Virginia students in the last two years. The latest confrontation in Charlottesville remains under state police investigation.
In late March, Gov. Terry McAuliffe issued an executive order requiring the law enforcement bureau to report directly to the ABC’s chief operating officer.
