OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Applications are being accepted from Oklahoma nonprofit organizations for The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Council Program.

Nonprofit groups can apply for funding to support programs offering hunger relief, healthy eating or career opportunities. The deadline to submit grant requests is May 1.

Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program will award grants to Oklahoma organizations to support the needs of underserved populations. Last year the Oklahoma State Giving Program awarded grants to Oklahoma-based charities such as the Assistance League of Norman, Dress for Success, Mission Norman, Neighborhood Services Organization, Oklahoma Project Woman, Paths to Independence and the Tulsa Day Center.

In 2013, cash and in-kind donations in Oklahoma from Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs and the Walmart Foundation totaled $30 million. Total giving, including Walmart customer donations, totaled more than $31.6 million.
