HOUSTON (AP) - Nine children from a Houston-area school district have been slightly hurt when their day care van was hit during a three-vehicle wreck.
A spokeswoman for the Klein Independent School District said Wednesday that the students were treated and released from a hospital.
Judy Rimato (ruh-MAH’-toh) says the van carried students from Theiss (tys) Elementary School after classes let out Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say a car allegedly ran a stop sign, hit the van and crashed into an SUV.
Rimato says the van carried 11 children. Nine suffered minor injuries. The van transports students for after-school day care.
KHOU-TV reports another child, from one of the other vehicles, was also slightly hurt. KPRC-TV reports the car driver was also injured.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately return messages Wednesday.
